Follows the journey of a precocious teenager named Lawrence and his young mother, Minnie, as they escape the Deep South and travel North through the Underground Railroad, to seek their freedom.
While acknowledging the realities of slavery, the book and original compositions by Ms. St. Armant bring out the full experience of early Black Americans: optimism, bravery, playfulness, wonder, suspense, and mystery. Tuesday, January 9, 2024, and Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 7:00 pm. This is a free event and open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come first-served basis.
