LVA guitar students and instructor Dr. Lucas Finney were invited to Keith Urban's soundcheck on Thursday, March 24, 2022. Urban, a four-time Grammy Award winner, chatted with students during a private meet and greet event that included a 35-minute question and answer session. After meeting Urban, students were offered two tickets to see Urban's show during his residency.
Senior Bradley Love had the opportunity to get on stage and play with Urban.
"It was just a great time. What a nice person to share his time with us," said Dr. Finney, director of the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts guitar program.
Sophomore Jack Ashby said that Urban was super cool, and spending time with the musical legend was amazing.
The students attending didn't know what to expect with the invitation. "It was crazy that he picked LVA. This shows how much he cares about schools and students," said Brady Davis, sophomore.
The event was featured in a People.com exclusive. https://people.com/country/keith-urban-high-school-musicians-las-vegas-behind-the-scenes/. Urban also gave a shout-out to LVA on Instagram @Keithurban with over 2.5 million followers.
