LVA Guitar
Guitar Overview
The Guitar Program at LVA is certified by the Guitar Foundation of America. GFA-Certified programs have proven compliance with GFA's Certification Standards and represent the GFA's standard of excellence in guitar education in the United States. LVA serves as a model for programs around the country. Students study repertoire and methods that elevate their performance abilities and confidence as a musician. Results lead to student success in local and national guitar competitions as well as music scholarship awards.
Program Curriculum
Each guitar course is designed to assist students in playing the guitar. Students receive guidance and direction in solving problems related to playing the guitar on all levels and will learn many of the different styles, skills, and techniques required to become a successful musician. Areas of concentration include correct posture, note-reading, aural skills, rhythmic patterns, chord study, finger-picking styles, melody construction, musical forms, and performing experiences. Each course fulfills the National Association for Music Educators National Standards, which have been adopted by the State of Nevada.
Program Outcome
Courses at LVA are designed to prepare students for the rigor of the most competitive Guitar Programs in the nation. The LVA guitar program seeks to tap into each student's potential and help them unlock their unique voice. We want to prepare student for a variety of musical opportunities after their time at LVA.
